SITES

The Acropolis with Parthenon Temple > open daily, ticket 20 euro also for other archaeological sites of the Acropolis area
The Ancient Agora, Stoa of Attalus > Shopping arcade built in the 2nd century BC, totally reconstructed in 1950s. Tue-Sun 9:30am – 3pm. Admission to the Agora and the museum 5 euro.
Handrian’s Arch > A Roman arch that marked the boundary of ancient Athens with the new city.
Temple of Olympian Zeus > The largest temple in ancient Greece. Its ruins lie just behind the Handrian’s Arch. Open form 8.30 am
Odeon of Herod Atticus > Built in 161 AD, this is where the Athens Festival is taking place. Situated in the base of the Acropolis hill.
Panathenian Stadium > The site of the 1st modern Olympics in 1896, located across the National Garden.
Lycabettus Hill > The highest point of the Athens. Take the teleferique to go at the top where there is the restaurant Orizontes and St. George chapel.
Constitution Square > The center of the city, in front of the Parliament, the place for new visitors to start orient themselves.
Presidential Palace > Formerly the Royal Palace, is used from the President of Greece to host dignitaries.

GETTING AROUND

Athens > Walk at the Acropolis area, Dionyssiou Areopagitou esplanade. Visit the picturesque Plaka. The area of Plaka is one of the most attractive districts of Athens. Under the slopes of the Acropolis, Plaka attracts all the visitors of Athens with its neoclassical mansions and houses with roofs from red tiles, its small winding roads with their steps, balconies with bouganeivilleas, geraniums and jasmines. Plaka is called many times in the Greek literature as the neighborhood of the Gods and that because over Plaka dominates the sacred rock of the Acropolis.
Thissio is a small settlement which is found south west of Monastiraki. It is close to the centre of Athens, famous for the plethora of trendy cafes and bars. Most of the Athenians are in love with this area due to its close proximity to Plaka and the traditional neighborhoods of Athens. From every part of Thissio you are promised to enjoy an amazing view to the Acropolis. At the wide pedestrian you will often see people who enjoy a long night walk, amidst the lush surroundings. There is also an open air cinema in the area of Thissio, ideal for the summer nights.Thissio displays a unique layout with many neoclassical buildings dominating the area and today it is one of the liveliest neighborhoods in Athens. One can easily access Thissio with the metro.
Glyfada > in the south coast of Attica, is well known for the vibrant atmosphere, the lively entertainment, the interesting shopping and of course the beach. Two marinas host a number of yachts and the young crowd flocks to the water sports and other athletic activities.
Vouliagmeni > one of the top suburbs of Athens. Located at the south coastline of Attica. Nice walks, nightlife, nice restaurants, 5* hotels and gorgeous beaches. Visit also Vouliagmeni Lake.
